Commodities in New Brunswick
New Brunswick agriculture is a diverse industry with more than 30 commodities being produced. Many producers are engaged in more than one sector and many sectors have sub-sectors within their group. Some sectors require registration with their commodity boards, and some require a levy or quota to produce and/or sell the product. It is important to check with your commodity to see what is required before you start production. Currently (2016), all supply-managed commodities (dairy, eggs, chicken, turkey), potatoes, apples, beef, hogs, blueberries and cranberries require levies to be paid to their respective associations.
